A Site for a Startup That Cannot Say What It Does

Stealth is not a reason for a blank page. It is a constraint, and constraints are easier to design against than freedom.

Stealth is not a reason for a blank page. It is a constraint, and a constraint is easier to design against than freedom.

What you can say without saying it

You can almost always name the problem without naming your solution to it. Problems are not secret — your customers already have them, and your competitors already know they exist. What is secret is the mechanism.

So write the problem precisely enough that the right reader recognises themselves in it, then stop. A page that describes a real pain and offers no answer still gets replies.

The three audiences a stealth site serves

  • Candidates, who need to believe the team is serious before they take a call.
  • Design partners, who need to recognise the problem as theirs.
  • Investors, who mostly need the company to exist and be reachable.

None of those three requires you to reveal the product. All three require you to look like a company rather than a parked domain.

Do not do this

Do not ship a logo on a black background with the word soon. It communicates nothing, filters nobody, and quietly signals that there is not much behind it yet. A single page of real writing about a real problem beats it on every axis.

Say the problem in public. Keep the mechanism private. That is the whole trick.

Send the deck, the paper, the repo, the demo.

We'll send back a website.
